How
Does It Work?
The stream comes encoded for playing using Windows
MediaPlayer for 56k modem users and has a pixel size of 640x480. This
is considerably larger than normal web-cam images for 56k modems. The
frame rate is one per second with a new JPEG update every 8 seconds.
The advantage of video streaming over normal motion-JPEG web images is
a larger image size for lower bandwidth. When multicasting is enabled
we will primarily serve these images as multicast streams.
The camera is a color low-light-level security-system quality camera;
lower cost by half of a web-based camera. You will notice that the night
images are still grain-free and in color!
